Federal law requires that all male U.S. citizens (regardless of where they live) and male immigrants residing in the United States (permanent resident aliens) register with the Selective Service System (SSS) within 30 days of their 18th birthday.
Men born after December 31, 1960, who are not registered with SSS are not eligible for federal aid (this includes grants and student loans), state scholarships, or institutional grants and scholarships. If the SSS cannot confirm your registration when your FAFSA is processed, our office must request documentation that shows that you have registered.
Please remember to write the student’s name and Campus ID on all verification documents prior to submitting them to the Office of Financial Aid and Scholarships. To safeguard your personal information, please do not send sensitive information, including documents with Social Security Numbers, to us via email.
