Financial aid may be used toward educational expenses such as technology. Any financial assistance received in excess of direct costs to UMBC (i.e. tuition, fees, housing, meal plans) will be refunded to students via the refund method selected with Student Business Services. Once received, a refund can be used towards the purchase of a computer/laptop as well as educational expenses. You can use our Cost Calculator tool to assist you in determining if your financial aid will cover your direct costs.
If you have not already done so, submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) online. Be sure to include our school code, 002105, and retain your confirmation page for your records. Students are also encouraged to use the Scholarship Retriever to apply for scholarship opportunities here at UMBC.
