What Is Profile Sharing?
You are able to grant access to your student account information via a feature in myUMBC called Profile Sharing. Depending on the level of access you grant to the other person, they may be able to see your financial aid and billing To Dos, financial aid summary, and billing summary. You may also grant this person the ability to contact university offices by phone, email, or in person to access your records.
When sharing your profile, please be aware of how it affects your rights as they relate to The Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA). The Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) protects the privacy of student education records by limiting the disclosure of such records. Sharing your own profile is one of the ways you may request that UMBC disclose your records to others.
How Do I Share My Profile?
For instructions on how to provide a person access to your financial aid and billing information, please see our Profile Sharing Instructions. If you have trouble or are interested in sharing another section of your myUMBC, visit the university’s Profile Sharing FAQs for more information.
What are the Technical Requirements for Profile Sharing?
Please be aware that sharing your profile requires the authorized person to have a myUMBC, Google+ (Gmail), Microsoft, or Amazon account to complete the process. If the person you wish to share your information with someone who does not have one of these accounts but you would like them to be able to call, email or visit our office and obtain information, please fill out the Authorization to Disclose Information Form.
Electronic form not working? Please try viewing the form in IE or Firefox. New students should also upgrade their myUMBC account if not already completed. A PDF is also available here.
